Moira Canal Festival
The Canal Festival is a family event held on the banks of the restored Ashby Canal at the historic Moira Furnace Museum, on the North West Leicestershire and South Derbyshire border. It aims to raise awareness of, and money for, the restoration, extension and maintenance of the Ashby Canal.

Furnace Car Festival
After the wonderful success of our first full day Car Show in 2024, we’ve decided to bring it back and move it up to June as we hope even more people will be able to come!
We’ll be welcoming any vehicle that wants to visit, whether that’s motorbikes, cars, or even tractors.

American War of Independence Weekend
We have a brilliant group of re-enactors coming to stage a weekend event all about the American War of Independence, which our very own Sir Francis Rawdon Hastings was part of!
The weekend will consist of demonstrations, patrols, and even a skirmish, as well as the chance to learn about life in both the British and American armies.

Moira Furnace Folk Festival
A small, friendly festival featuring a mix of nationally known, local and upcoming artists who perform on two stages in seated marquees – so everyone is under cover for concerts.
There is a programme of free workshops on Saturday and Sunday mornings, which take place in various locations around the site, There is a Ceilidh on Saturday night in the nearby Miners Welfare building.
Singarounds and sessions take place in the bar marquee, various other marquees on the main site and the campsite and at the two local pubs. Morris and Appalachian dance teams perform outside during the weekend.

Woodland Festival
Last year, we had our first Woodland Festival to celebrate the talent of traditional crafters in the National Forest. We had so much fun that we’ve decided to do it again! It’ll be a full weekend of family fun and entertainment, with performances, crafts, demonstrations, art and more!

Furnace Fright Night

With so much history, as you can imagine, Moira has many ghost stories and reported sightings of spirit energies, so come and see for yourself!
There have been many reporting’s of paranormal activity at Moira Furnace and the surrounding area. Disembodied voices are heard throughout the building. The feeling of uneasiness and nausea has been felt when guests have entered in certain areas of the building.
Ghost Walk at Moira Furnace, join haunted heritage as we take you round the surrounding areas of the furnace, and hear the ghostly stories.

Let’s get spooky! With the dark nights closing in, and the leaves falling, it’s time for one of our favourite times of year, Halloween!
With a haunted boat, spooky trail, and a classic horror house museum, what more would you want from a day out in October? Crafts, music, and activities galore? We’ll have those too! So bring the family and have a blast at this free entry event. Getting dressed up is encouraged, but not mandatory, and we can’t wait to see you all!

American Civil War Weekend
Our second reenactment weekend of the year, the American Civil War! The 24th Virginia Infantry will be on site to show and teach all about this historical event.

Artisan Fair
For the Bank Holiday Monday, we’ll be having another of our outdoor artisan fairs to bring you the best of local, handmade crafts!
With food, music, crafts for the kids and more, this is another fun, full day out for all the family.
We’ll be asking for donations for car parking, and some of the activities provided by the furnace, but entry to the actual event will be free of charge!

Car Show
For the past few years, we’ve been asked to put on a car meet on a Sunday, so why not make it a bit of a show? All cars and vehicles are welcome to come down, park up in front of the furnace, and enjoy food, drink, music, crafts and activities for a great day out for all the family.
We’d love to see vehicles of all ages and types, just like at our Tuesday meets.
The event will be free to enter, but we will be asking for donations on the door to help keep events like this running on our site.

MotorBike Rally
Do you have a motorbike? Bring it along! We’ll be welcoming motorcycles to park down in the hearth of the furnace. Enjoy live music, food, and the chance to meet with like-minded fellows!
Even if you don’t have a bike, come down to admire, and learn something new!

Little Feet Festival
Little Feet Festivals is a 2 day children's festival set within Moira Furnace Country Park, with appearances of the actual Peppa Pig at intervals during the day as part of the festival's jam-packed itinerary of entertainment - so don't forget your camera!
Filled with live shows, workshops, meet and greets of well-known characters, storytelling, face painting, dinosaurs, circus acts, slime making, sand play, imagination play, bubble workshops, balloon workshops and so much more, all for one ticket price, no hidden fees and for your entire family to enjoy the day together and create memories you’ll take away forever.
Gates open at 9.30am and the festival closes at 7pm, from 10.30am there is live entertainment.

American War of Independence Weekend - Externally Organised
A fun weekend to learn about the history of the American War of Independence and it’s connection to Moira.

Dog Festival
With an estimated 13 million dogs living in homes in the UK, many of our wonderful visitors have a dog in their family. So we decided that, this year, we would shine a spotlight on them with a day dedicated to dogs! Over the course of the day, you and your furry friend will be able to enter a fun dog show, have a go at an agility course, check your chip, and shop til you drop for treats, toys, accessories and pet related gifts. What more could you ask for on a Sunday in June? Never mind food, a bar, and crafts for the kids as well.
There will be a small fee for entry into the dog show, and we will be asking for donations for parking and some activities.
We can’t wait to see you all!
Please note, we do ask that all visitors have the appropriate insurance in place, as we can not take liability for any actions taken by a visiting pet.

Woodland Festival
Did you know there was once a tree growing out of the furnace? Not many do! And since this site has such a close connection with nature, with our woodland at the heart of the national forest, what better way to celebrate than with a festival dedicated to the woodland and the incredible local crafters we’re surrounded by.

Easter food Fair
With the success last year of our Easter Food Fair, we’ve decided to bring it back again! But this time with more food, music from the Quorn Ukulele Orchestra, and plenty to do for all ages. There is no set entry fee, and car parking will be by donation.

Easter Trail
The return of our ever-popular annual Easter Trail. For three weeks, our piglets will be loose on their parade floats, and we need your help to find them! Pick up a trail for just £2 from the museum, have fun, and learn about the Moira Parades and Pig on the Wall.

Christmas Craft Fair
Our ever popular Christmas Craft Fair returns for its third year. We will be welcoming around 40 crafters with their amazing crafts, giving you a chance to pick up the perfect gift for that special someone for Christmas.
Alongside the craft stalls there will be lots to see and do with the chance to visit the man in red himself!

Halloween Spooktacular!
With the nights getting darker, and the wind getting colder, the ghosts, ghouls and all manner of spooks are coming to the Furnace for a day of fun for all ages at our Halloween Spooktacular! We’ve got the return of ever-popular pumpkin bowling, a new, one-day-only, trail, delicious food, plenty of crafts, and much more to enjoy.
Don’t forget your costumes!

James Richards CirCUs
We are proud to welcome for the first time ever, James Richard’s Circus here at the Moira Furnace! This all human circus promises plenty of excitement for the whole family!
Performances are Wednesday to Friday at 6pm, Saturday 2pm & 5pm and a final performance on Sunday at 2pm. The ticket office opens on the site on the Wednesday with tickets starting at just £7!

Furnace Motor Club September

Haven’t got a vehicle you want to show but just want to come and drool over the ones that are showing, that’s fine. We have plenty of visitor car parking spaces. We will have a burger van, a bar and ice cream to make it a proper night out for the whole family.
All we ask is for you to throw something into the bucket on entry.

Up to 60 artisan craft stalls, over a dozen food stalls (both undercover in a marquee), hot food vendors, children’s entertainment, live music, the museum open, and the boat running. This 3-day event will see much-loved crafters returning alongside new favourites, to our first-ever, undercover, fair.
Come rain or shine, these brilliant crafters will be here selling their brilliant creations, undercover, in the dry. There’s plenty for the whole family to do whilst here, not just shopping, but fairground rides, boat trips, the museum, and exploring our 36-acre site.
